Senate Bill Could Save Firearms Companies

Filed under: right to bear arms — angry_squirrel July 30, 2005

Bitter Anti-Second Amendment Politicians like Senator Ed Kennedy have enjoyed damages to the firearms industry by frivolous lawsuits driving them out of business in the United States, only to open the market to foreign manufacturers such as Beretta of Italy. This necessary bill will rightfully shield firearms manufacturers from lawsuits brought by victims of gun crimes, redirecting punishment back where it belongs, the criminal perpetrators.

Jealous Jon Bruning Abuses His Position

Filed under: basic rights and freedom — angry_squirrel July 27, 2005

Jon Bruning (Republican) should go preach to his own children and leave Matthew Koso and his 14-year old wife alone. It may be moral abuse to get a 14-year old pregnant, however, it isn’t Nebraska’s Attorney General’s job to legislate morality, because that is an abuse of his power. After all, the girl’s parents did consent and putting the father in the slammer isn’t going to do her or their baby any good.

Grow Up! Harry Potter is for Children

Filed under: pop culture lemmings — angry_squirrel July 18, 2005

You’ve got Christians upset about the Harry Potter books for various reasons, while you have parents grateful their children are reading books, and finally you have adults going nuts over this as if Harry Potter was the next best thing to cigarettes and sex, but what you don’t have is sanity. Those of us outside the fad driven culture are just sick of hearing the mention of Harry F’ing Potter! I think Joel Stein puts it best in his L.A. Times story by saying “The story is stupid if you’re over 13.” I think I will administer spankings to my children using hardcover Harry Potter books so they will develop a healthy hate relationship between those two words and ass numbing pain.

Move Over AC/DC

I think I’ve actually found a band I like more than AC/DC, and from the looks of them, I would be afraid to tell them otherwise. If you don’t support the troops, they will likely kick your ass. The band name might be a bit corny, however, if ThundHerStruck happens to do a show in Nebraska I will get tickets.

United Nation Taxation and Internet Domination

Filed under: united nations watch — angry_squirrel July 14, 2005

Kofi Annan is looking for more money to fund the UN, again proposing global taxation. The U.N. has also been trying to seize control of the Internet [2003 story]. Although President Bush stated control of the Internet would not be handed over to the U.N., the issue has been ignited by recent threats from U.N. members such as China and Brazil. U.N. control of the Internet will include a U.N. global domain tax with a tangible tool of enforcement. The Internet represents what may be the last venue for freedom of expression in the world. It belongs in the hands of ordinary citizens uncensored and unrestricted. If Hillary Clinton becomes president on 08 I’m sure the U.N. will achieve their goal of Internet control. Perhaps they should just sit back and be patient for what may be inevitable as our rights slowly give way to globalization and oppression.

Who does Michael Savage Speak For?

Michael Alan Weiner, aka Michael Savage, has been described as a Nazi, and the “voice to the right wing’s darkest fantasies.” This may be news to the biased media but Michael Savage doesn’t speak for anyone on the left or right at all. Radicals like Savage belong somewhere off on a third dimension tangent where hate-speech is the norm. Consequently, he has felt the impact of dwindling ratings and is ever increasingly criticized by both Conservatives and Liberals. Currently he is being ignored by most media while attempting to promote his latest book, he can’t get booked anywhere in the national media.

Wayback Machine Falls Victim to Sue-Happy Slime

Filed under: freedom of speech — angry_squirrel

HealthCARE Advocates is suing “The Wayback Machine” after their web site archive was used as evidence in another lawsuit. The plaintiff claims that the Wayback Machine didn’t obey their robots.txt file. Can you legally demand no one copy anything from your public Internet web site? Honoring the robots.txt file should be a courtesy, not a law. Archives and spiders that ignore it should pay the price of a boycott or loss of business, not the oppressive arm of the law. I don’t doubt that this suit will be unsuccessful, however, a legal defense is very expensive so no matter how you look at it, The Wayback Machine is going to lose.

Watch TV or Find a Job by 2009

Republican Senator Ted Stevens feels sorry for the poor folks with too little money to afford a 50 buck digital to analog converter by the year 2009 [USA Today] when old fashioned analog television broadcasts will be gone forever. He proposes that you and I pay for all these deadbeats to get a TV box so they can sit and watch TV all day instead of going out and getting a job! Last time I checked I was already paying for all these public libraries that the lazy deadbeats don’t bother going to. Is TV really a critical necessity?
