When States Oppose the U.S. Constitution

Firearms First has a quality 2nd Amendment story on the battle over conceal carry rights in the Midwest United States. The heartland of the U.S. is often referred to as very conservative, yet midwestern firearms rights are stifled, far more restrictive than the liberal east coast state of Vermont. By large it is the Democratic party of Nebraska, Kansas, and Wisconsin working against recent conceal carry legislation being introduced in those states. However, a few bad Republicans, such as Nebraska legislator Marian Price, are also fighting against the restoration of this constitutional right to state residents. Make no mistake about it, conceal carry is a right granted by the U.S. Constitution. Any constitutional originalist and Libertarian knows that a state restricting this right is directly violating the Constitution of the United States.

As you may already know, the “Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act” has already passed the Senate and now waits for Congress to move on it. Geeks With Guns Web Site Defaced

Filed under: right to bear arms — angry_squirrel September 19, 2005

Has the Firearms bearing geek movement been thwarted by some klown? That’s not a typo, as the individual responsible for defacing the web site “Geeks With Guns” has proudly identified himself as “klown.” Without any further messages, it looks more like a script-kiddie PHP Nuke exploit rather than a political statement, and so we learn that a .44 mag may best defend the home, but sound security practices and a hardened system best defend your Internet property.

Legal Firearms Seized From New Orleans Victims

By any other name, New Orleans is now a police state under martial law. Citizens can kiss the constitution good-bye in any emergency, unless they are wealthy. The New York Times reports that the firearms confiscation doesn’t apply to “security guards hired by businesses and some wealthy individuals.” To date, citizens have been held against their will at the Superdome, citizens have been forcefully removed from their homes, and legal firearms owners are forced to forfeit their property, and the only exemption to all of these constitutional crimes by the U.S. government applies to the wealthy upper class citizens of New Orleans.

Senate Bill Could Save Firearms Companies

Filed under: right to bear arms — angry_squirrel July 30, 2005

Bitter Anti-Second Amendment Politicians like Senator Ed Kennedy have enjoyed damages to the firearms industry by frivolous lawsuits driving them out of business in the United States, only to open the market to foreign manufacturers such as Beretta of Italy. This necessary bill will rightfully shield firearms manufacturers from lawsuits brought by victims of gun crimes, redirecting punishment back where it belongs, the criminal perpetrators.
